My wife and I would like to share a little bit about our 40 year marriage story with you. My wife and I both were married before and divorced when we met. When we started dating, I was in the Air Force stationed in Colorado and she was in Texas. We really got to know one another by talking on the phone for hours. After about a month we met in person and a month and a half later we were married. As we both prayerfully desired God’s guidance, we accepted the fact God had put us together, even though we were not maddly in love. We both wanted nothing else but to be married for life, that God’s would be glorified. We were attracted and infatuated with each other but not head over hills in love. After lots of praying and seeking the Lord’s will for bringing us together, we decided this marriage would be for God. We wanted to honor God with our marriage, God’s plan and purpose this time. So, we made an important commitment to “the God of Creation with our vows, until death alone do us part”. The only way we could do this with God’s blessings, was by tooking the word “divorce” out of our marriage… and it’s working. We just celebrated 40 years as best friends, serving God through our church and community, five kids, fourteen grandkids and we still have a healthy and committed marriage… still in a loving, it’s not easy but God’s Perfect Plan for us.
